CCGSPDA ANNUAL MEETING

The CCGSPDA is pleased to be invited to partner with The Canadian Association for Graduate Studies (CAGS, http://cags.ca/) to hold an annual meeting in conjunction with the CAGS Annual Conference. At the CCGSPDA meeting attendees will have the opportunity to network, learn from others, and share best practices on graduate student professional development.

 

 

2018 CCGSPDA ANNUAL MEETING

6 & 7 November 2017

Winnipeg, Manitoba, at the Fort Gary Hotel

 

Held in conjunction with the CAGS Annual Conference (http://cags.ca/conference.php), CAGS has again kindly provided the CCGSPDA with space to hold a day and a half of talks prior to and concurrent with the start of the CAGS annual meeting.

Attendance at the CCSGPDA sessions on 6 & 7 November are open to CAGS members who have registered to attend the CCGSPDA sessions (see CAGS for registration details, registration opens mid-August 2018). Presentations during the sessions will be by CCGSPDA members or those invited to present.

PLEASE REGISTER TO ATTEND THE CCGSPDA MEETING VIA CAGS. A SEPARATE REGISTRATION WILL BE NEEDED IF YOU PLAN ON ALSO ATTENDING THE CAGS 55TH ANNUAL CONFERENCE, 6-8 NOVEMBER 2018.

10:30 am    Lightning Talks (9 talks x 10 min each)

1:30 pm      Research Talks (4 talks x 30 min each)

3:30 pm      Coffee (provided)

4:30 pm      Feedback Talks (2 talks x 30 min each)

5:30 pm      End (a dinner may be scheduled for attendees who have not registered for CAGS, details TBA).

9:00 am      AGM, including introduction of 2018/2019 Executive and discussion of Strategic Plan

The cost of attending the Consortium meeting:

November 6th only = $200 per person
November 6th and 7th (half day) = $300 per person

Lightning Talks - 10 minutes each, total of 9 talks. Quickly share a new idea, concept, or problem you are working on. In general, there will not be discussion or questions after each talk. Attendees are encouraged to connect with presenters throughout the rest of the day/conference where there will be more time to discuss.

 

Research Talks - 30 minutes each, a total of 4 talks. Go into more detail about your research or results on a new idea, concept, or problem you are working on. Presenters are encouraged to allow ample time for questions and discussion.

 

Feedback Talks - 30 minutes each, a total of 2 talks. Lead a more casual conversation about a new idea, concept, or problem you are working on.
